Welcome to Newton Rayzor Elementary

  • Opened in 1960, Newton Rayzor Elementary is named for J. Newton Rayzor, a well-known attorney and businessman who lived in Denton and whose family donated the land on which the campus stands. The school has received four additions and renovations over the past 64 years, and it has been at the same location on Malone Street for six decades.

In the Fall of 2024, Newton Rayzor will move into its new location off Fulton Street, on the site of the old Denton High School and adjacent to the new Calhoun Middle School campus. The new campus was furnished by the 2018 capital improvement project.

Newton Rayzor is located in the heart of Denton and serves students in the Denton High School Zone. The campus is also an International Baccalaureate World School, meaning it operates using a highly rigorous curriculum that encourages and influences students to approach education through a global perspective, and follows the IB structure indicated through the Early Years Programme.

School Mission: We will empower all learners to be self-motivated, internationally minded participants in a global society.

School Motto: Changing the world by learning from each other.

IB Mission: The International Baccalaureate® aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.
