About Newton Rayzor Elementary
Newton Rayzor Elementary is one of the most-established schools in the district. Built in 1960, it has received four additions and renovations with the most recent in 2009. The school is named for J. Newton Rayzor, a well-known attorney and businessman who lived in Denton and whose family donated the land on which the campus stands.
Known by many in the community for its high academic standards and welcoming environment, Newton Rayzor is one of Denton ISD’s most treasured schools. The school offers the International Baccalaureate program, which has received worldwide acclaim for its intercultural educational curriculum.
A veteran staff of teachers that is all trained and certified to teach Gifted and Talent ensures that various creative measures are used to reach students academically. With a culturally diverse student population, close relationships with Texas Woman’s University and University of North Texas and its IB influences, Newton Rayzor maintains a strong international influence on its campus.
Newton Rayzor students have a number of opportunities to showcase their talents as well through participation in art club, robotics club, marimba club, running club, Spanish club, choir and orchestra. Add in numerous partnerships with local businesses and organizations, and students have a wide variety of opportunities to learn and grow outside of the classroom.
