Who is in Band at Harpool?
Almost 1/3 of the students at Harpool Middle School are in Band!  It is one of the largest organizations on campus and will continue to grow and become stronger in years to come.

Some students will plan to become musicians, music educators, and music majors.  In addition, many students will go on to become:

    DOCTORS
    VETERINARIANS
    ATHLETES
    LAWYERS
    FINANCIAL ADVISORS
    AIRLINE PILOTS
    MARINE BIOLOGISTS

An instrumental music education is becoming an essential part of preparing for students' future success.  Numerous studies are showing that the jobs today's students will be stepping into will require high levels of creative problem solving, time management, attention to detail, self-discipline and self-motivation.  Colleges are always impressed when they see students have been a part of their middle and high school BAND programsColleges take special note of students who have been part of the school band programs for all 7 years (middle school through high school).

Are Band Students In Other Activies Outside of Band?
    DEFINITELY!
Harpool Band students also participate in:
    Harpool Athletics (All Sports)
    National Junior Honor Society
    UIL Academic Team
    Thespian Club
    Orchestra

    Church Activities
    Piano Lessons
    Horseback Riding

The middle school years offer new opportunities, and we encourage students to participate in other activities. We work with students to help them succeed in all of their endeavors.

While we do encourage students to expore other opportunities while participating in band, a certain level of commitment is required in order to learn an instrument.  In the first year of participation in band, each student is required to practice daily in order to acheive classroom expectations and grades.

Commitment is a key characteristic of Band Students.
