Mrs. Thornton
I grew up in Austin,Texas in a large family of six.  As a child I enjoyed school and was very involved in school programs and sports.  I have a BS in Elementary Education from Baylor University in Waco. I have a Masters in Library Science from UNT.  I have a total of 18 years teaching experience: both 4th and 5th grades, and now the library. When my son was born, I retired from teaching to be a full time mom.  I really loved being a stay home mom.  I was able to volunteer at school, be involved with PTA, attend BSF (Bible Study Fellowship), play tennis, and keep my home in some sort of order.  After being a stay home mom for 10 years, I was excited go back to teaching.  This is my ninth year at Hawk, fifth year in the library.
My husband and I have been married for 26 years.  We met our freshman year at Baylor University and married shortly after graduating.  We have two wonderful children who both successfully graduated from Denton ISD, and are now both in college!
I enjoy reading- mainly mysteries and children's books.  I also like to watch movies, run, exercise, cook, and spend time with my family and friends.  I am a laid back person, but still like to make lists and check things off!  I want your child to enjoy coming to the library, and develop of love of reading! Please feel free to call or email me anytime.
