SECTIONAL SCHEDULE for Concert and Symphonic Bands
Morning: 7:20am - 8:05 am
Afternoon: 3:45pm - 4:30 pm

Symphonic Band
The Symphonic Band is made up of 7/8th graders and is the top performing group at Harpool.  They meet everyday as a full band.  Students are required to attend one sectional per week to help them learn their music and to work on fundamentals.   The Symphonic Band performs at a fall, winter, and spring concert and attends UIL Concert and Sight-reading Contest as well as an additional band contest on our overnight trip.  Students must audition for the Denton All District Band and are highly encouraged to participate in All Region tryouts in November and Solo and Ensemble Contest in the spring.  All students are encouraged to take private lessons. 

Concert Band
The Concert Band is made up of 7/8th graders.  They meet everyday as a full band.  Students are required to attend one sectional per week to help them learn their music and to work on fundamentals.  The Concert Band performs at a fall, winter, and spring concert and attends UIL and another band contest on our overnight trip in the spring.  The Concert Band works hard on fundamentals.  Students are encouraged to audition for the Denton All District Band and to participate in Solo and Ensemble Contest.  All students are encouraged to take private lessons. 

Beginning Band
Beginning band is the first opportunity students have to join our program.  No prior musical experience is needed.  We teach our students how to play an instrument and everything they need to know about the fundamentals of music.  Students have the opportunity to make their instrument choice in the spring of their 5th grade year.

Jazz Band
The Jazz Band is made up of 7/8th grade students and sometimes outstanding 6th grade students.  The jazz band meeting times are still TBD depending on our campus schedule.  The Jazz band will perform throughout the community, as well as at venues such as the  North Texas Jazz Festival in Addison, and the Denton Arts and Jazz Festival.  This group plays at the winter and spring concerts and festivals and contests in the spring.
