Two Denton ISD Students Advance to County Spelling Bee

Rodriguez Middle School seventh-grader Srijan Sahoo and Navo Middle School seventh-grader Thomas Hong finished first and second place, respectively, in the Denton ISD spelling bee and will represent the district at the Denton County Spelling Bee.

The Denton County Spelling Bee is at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 8 at the Denton ISD Professional Development Center in Room 212 - Pecan A & B. The journey to the Scripps National Spelling Bee competition begins with campus-level competitions at our middle schools.

Srijan spelled 22 out of 25 words correctly, and Thomas spelled 17 out of 25 words correctly to advance to the county spelling bee. Srijan's parents are Prakash and Swati Sahoo, and Thomas' parents are Quyen and Dean Wong.
