Denton ISD Welcomes Clinical Teachers and Observation Applicants During the Fall and Spring Semesters!
All clinical teachers and observation applicants must complete a criminal background application to be considered for placement with Denton ISD. Please note that the background check can take up to two weeks to complete. Your university/program coordinator will be notified by the Human Resources department of your clearance and final placement.
Applicants and university/alternate certification program staff, including professors, are not allowed to reach out to campus teachers or administrators.

Student Clinical Teachers & UNT PDS Placements
* Due to the Universities surrounding our district, Denton ISD must adhere to deadlines listed below. Failure to comply with district deadlines will result in denial of application *
Clinical Teaching requests for Spring 2025 will be accepted from October 1, 2024 - November 1, 2024.
Clinical Teaching requests for Fall 2025 will be accepted from May 1, 2025 - June 1, 2025.

Fine Arts Clinical Teachers
Fine Arts Clinical Teaching request for Spring 2025 will be taken between October 1, 2024 - October 25, 2024. The university coordinator will submit a complete list of clinical teachers through the Fine Arts Clinical Teaching spreadsheet and send to Denton ISD’s Fine Arts Director, Mr. Eddy Russell. The Fine Arts Office will notify Universities of available placements no later than October 31, 2024, this is contingent upon background clearance from the Human Resources department and paperwork processing. Final approvals will be provided from HR no later than December 2024.
Fine Arts Clinical Teaching request for Fall 2025 will be taken between April 1, 2025 – May 1, 2025. The university coordinator will submit a complete list of clinical teachers through the Fine Arts Clinical Teaching spreadsheet and send to Denton ISD’s Fine Arts Director, Mr. Eddy Russell. The Fine Arts Office will notify Universities of available placements no later than May 30, 2025, this is contingent upon background clearance from the Human Resources department and paperwork processing. Final approvals will be provided from HR no later than June 28, 2024.

Early Field Experience/Student Observations
* Early Field Experience, Observers, Interns, Practicum Students*
Early Field Experience, Intern/Practicum and Student Observation Requests for Spring 2025 will be accepted from December 1, 2024 - February 1, 2025.
Early Field Experience, Intern/Practicum and Student Observation Requests for Fall 2025 will be accepted from May 1, 2025 - June 1, 2025.

Group Course Observations (Observations as a Class Only)
* Group Course Observation Placements Available to TWU and UNT Students Only*
The requesting professor must complete a Fill-In Classroom Observation Campus Approval form. Appropriate signatures are required prior to submitting to the university coordinator.
Group Course Observation Requests for Spring 2025 will be accepted from December 1, 2024 - February 28, 2025.
Group Course Observation Requests for Fall 2025 will be accepted from July 1, 2025 - September 1, 2025.
* Summer Group Course Observations - Offered to TWU Students Only *
Summer Group Course Observation Requests for Summer 2024-2025 will be accepted from January 1, 2025 - March 1, 2025.

Counseling & Social Work
* Counseling, Social Work Internship, and Co-leading Observation Requests *
Step 1:
A meeting must be requested with Rebekah De Peo-Christner, the Coordinator of Social & Emotional Learning, or Lynn Charles, the Coordinator of Social Services to begin the process of requesting counseling or social work internship, practicum, or observation. Please visit their webpage for more specific information.
Step 2:
After the interview with the Coordinator of Social & Emotional Learning or the Coordinator of Social Services, please refer to the application process below and complete steps 1-3.

Library Practicum
* This Includes Interns, Practicum Students, and Observer Requests *
Step 1:
The potential library intern and/or university supervisor will contact the Denton ISD Library Coordinator, who will be responsible for arranging and requesting internships, practicums, and observations.
Step 2:
After contacting the Library Coordinator, please refer to the Student Teaching/Observations page to complete your background application and continue the process as mentioned in Phase 1 - Phase 3.

STEP 1
STUDENT/APPLICANT PROCESS
* The student must fill out the background application and submit.
* Upon submitting the application, the applicant will immediately receive an email confirmation of submission in the email they provided on the application. Example of confirmation email:
* This email must be forwarded to their university/program coordinator.

STEP 2
UNIVERSITY/PROGRAM COORDINATOR'S PROCESS
After the student's email confirmation has been forwarded to the university/program coordinator, the coordinator must attach the email forwarded along with the approval letter indicating the following information:
- Applicant's first and last name
- Description of the assignment
- Certification grade level
- Certification subject/area
- Total of hours required
* The university/program coordinator will forward both these documents for processing to Sulieng Contreras in the Human Resources Department.
STEP 3
DISTRICT HUMAN RESOURCES PROCESS
* Once the university/program coordinator has forwarded the email confirmation and approved letter, it will be reviewed and processed by Human Resources.
