Transportation Department
Dear Parents/ Guardians,
We hope this letter finds you all well and are looking forward to the new school year! Welcome back to our returning families and I wish to extend a warm welcome to our new families.
At the Transportation Department, we have been preparing all summer for an efficient and enjoyable beginning to your child’s school year. We value the partnership we have with our families and the trust you place in us to serve your child.
Please take the time to go over the rules and regulations that are posted on the district website www.dentonisd.org under transportation. We strive to provide excellent service and following the expectations are key to making the experience enjoyable for all.
Because we want students to arrive to campus on time, please have your student at their bus stop 5-10 minutes before the departure time of the bus. For our younger students (Kindergarten and First grade), please make sure that a parent/guardian is present to receive your child at afternoon drop off. If no one is present, the driver will continue his/her route, and we will make every effort to contact you to arrange for you to pick-up your student from the appropriate Transportation Facility.
This year, we will continue to require students to scan their Universal Student IDs as they board and depart the bus. By doing so, we can track each student’s use of our system and create more efficient routes and stops. If a student has not scanned their Universal Student ID in more than a week, we will unregister them from Transportation Services, freeing up a spot for others.
Our system has a free app that allows parents/guardians to see the location of their student’s bus as well as whether their student boarded their bus. Please visit www.dentonisd.org and navigate to Transportation for additional information on our Parent Portal app.
If you have any questions regarding Denton ISD Transportation, please do not hesitate to contact us via email at DentonISDTransportation@dentonisd.org
Wishing everyone a safe and happy school year!
Sheryl A. Alden, Ph.D.
Director of Transportation
