Denton ISD Recognized as 2024 Best Community for Music Education for 17th Consecutive Year

For the 17th consecutive year, Denton ISD has been recognized by the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) Foundation as one of the Best Communities for Music Education for its outstanding commitment to music education.

The Best Communities for Music Education designation is awarded to districts that demonstrate outstanding achievement in efforts to provide music access and education to all students.

“Denton ISD’s music and fine arts programs are highly valued by the people of Denton and the surrounding communities that our school district serves,” said Eddy Russell, Director of Fine Arts. “Our community strongly supports our fine arts programs and understands the importance of having outstanding arts programs in our schools. Continuing to earn this designation as one of the nation's best communities for music education reflects the commitment that Denton ISD and our community continues to make in providing high-quality music programs in our schools.”

To qualify for the Best Communities designation, Denton ISD answered detailed questions about graduation requirements, music class participation, instruction time, facilities, support for the music program, funding and community music-making programs. The Best Communities for Music Education Award recognizes that Denton ISD is leading the way with learning opportunities and understands that music and the arts are important elements of a well-rounded education.
