Transportation Safety Tips and Information
Be Ready for the First Day: Bus Transportation Tips for Denton ISD Families
For many Denton ISD students, the day begins with a friendly greeting from our dedicated transportation team, the first smiling faces they see each morning. Our drivers and staff are committed to getting students to and from school safely, and we ask for your partnership to help keep every ride smooth and secure.
Track Your Bus with the Parent Portal App
Parents can download the Parent Portal app (available on iOS and Android) to:
• View real-time bus locations and estimated arrival times
• See when your child gets on or off the bus
• Complete transportation registration and route changes
The app is the fastest way to stay updated and avoid unnecessary wait times. You can download the app by clicking this link: https://www.edulog.com/parent-help/
Before the Bus Arrives
• Be at your stop 5–10 minutes early
• Wait in a safe spot away from the street
• Approach only after the bus stops and the driver signals
• Avoid distracting the driver with questions—call Transportation or visit the website if you need assistance
Riding Safely
• Sit in your assigned seat and face forward
• Keep backpacks in your lap and aisles clear
• Use quiet voices so the driver can focus
• Follow all driver instructions
Exiting the Bus
• Use the handrail and step down carefully
• Walk at least 10 steps away from the bus before turning
• Cross only in front of the bus when signaled by the driver—never behind it
A Reminder for All Drivers
Texas law requires stopping for school buses with extended stop arms and flashing red lights, from either direction (unless on a divided highway). Remain stopped until the lights turn off and the bus moves.
By working together, we can make every ride safe, efficient, and worry-free.
