From powering on to joining class
To start the year in the best possible position as a digital learner, please work through the checklist below in preparation for the first day of school. Click each step for more information.
-
Step 1 - Log in to your device
This step applies only to those using a district-issue Chromebook. If you are using a personal device, please move to step 2.
Power on your Chromebook and connect to wifi (Connection Instructions). Log in with your username (student ID) and password. If you don't know your password, you can click Forgot Password. If that doesn't work, you may not be able to reset your password yourself at this time and will need to access the Password Reset Support page.
If you need a device or jetpack and do not have access to one, please reach out to your campus for information.
-
Step 2 - Access and sign in to the SSO
The Single Sign On Portal (SSO) is available at sso.dentonisd.org. You will sign in with your username (student ID) and password. Once open, you will see tiles for each digital resource you have access to.
If you need additional support, please reach out to your zone digital learning specialists.
-
Step 3 - Access Google and Microsoft
You will likely use your district Google and/or Micorsoft accounts frequently throughout the year. Each has a tile in the SSO. Look for each icon and open them to ensure that you are able to sign in with your username and password.

If you need additional support, please reach out to your zone digital learning specialists.
-
Step 6 - Prepare to join your first class meeting
Teachers will use either Zoom or Microsoft Teams to facilitate video meetings with students. Your teacher will share information with you on how to access those meetings via Canvas. To best prepare for joining a Teams meeting please take a look at our instructions for accessing Zoom and Teams meetings.
If you need additional support, please reach out to your zone digital learning specialist.
