Our HSE classes are designed to help students prepare for the official tests required to earn a Texas Certificate of High School Equivalency. Classes are held twice a week, online or in-person, with each session lasting about two hours. Our program is structured to help students graduate within 3-6 months. All instruction, study materials, and resources are at no cost to students.***
***We do not administer the GED test. Vouchers may be available for students who meet certain eligibility requirements.***

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
- MUST live in Denton County, TX
- Be above the age of 18*
- Have a Valid Form of Identification
***If you are 16-18 years old, please read the section below***

Step 1: REGISTRATION
An Appointment is necessary to attend Registration. To schedule an appointment follow this link: bit.ly/ntaelregistration.
- Held on Mondays.
- Arrive early to your appointment. Late arrivals may be turned away.
- Bring a Driver’s license and Social Security card, if available
- If you do not have a state ID, you may bring an alternative form of identification—click here to see acceptable options.
Note: Students may be denied entry based on the absence of a form of identification or other documentation. If you have questions about what you need to bring with you, please call our office at (940) 369-0400.
***IF YOU ARE 16-18 YEARS OLD PLEASE READ***
In addition to that listed above, you will need:
- Formal school withdrawal form
- Parent or guardian present at registration
- Court order (for age 16 only)
If you do not have these things you will be turned away!

Step 2: TESTING
***All tests are to measure your current level and are NOT pass or fail tests***
You will be taking the TABE test. The TABE test is a federal-standard assessment that tests you on:
- Math
- Reading
- Language
You will then Fill out a Next Step Form. You need to bring this with you to Orientation & NTAEL 101.

Step 3: ORIENTATION
***You need to bring your NEXT STEP form with you***
- Held on Wednesdays.
- We will cover:
- Program objectives and information
- Class Curriculum (Essential Education)
- You will fill out:
- Student Contract
- Emergency Contact Form
- Photo/ Video Release
Please make sure your instructor signs your Next Step Form before leaving.

Step 4: NTAEL 101
Main goal: to set our students up for success.
Topics Covered: syllabus, S.M.A.R.T. goals, time management, and learning styles
You will also fill out your Individual, Training, Education and Career plan. This form is used to keep track of students' goals and achievements.
IN-PERSON STUDENTS
- Bring your NEXT STEP form to class
- Takes place on Thursdays
- Must attend before beginning class
Please make sure your instructor signs your Next Step Form before leaving.
ONLINE STUDENTS
- Takes place every other week on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
- MUST attend all three days of online NTAEL 101.
- Classes held virtually in a Microsoft Teams meeting.
- Have your Next Step form with you while attending
- Will include Canvas and Microsoft Team Instruction

Step 5: HSE CLASS
YAY! YOU HAVE FINISHED ENROLLMENT!!
You are now ready to begin attending HSE Class! Please bring your Next Step form to your first day of class. Your next step form is your entrance ticket to class.
Classes meet twice a week for approximately two hours each day. We offer online and in-person classes. We have morning and evening classes available. Our classes meet on Mondays and Wednesdays or Tuesdays and Thursdays.
