Dr. Mike MattinglyAssistant Superintendent of Curriculum, Instruction and Staff Development(940) 369-0699Dr. Mike Mattingly has served as the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum, Instruction, and Staff Development with Denton ISD since 2007. He has formerly been a teacher, principal, and executive director for schools in Texas and Georgia. Dr. Mattingly has also been a part-time assistant professor for the University of Georgia. He received his B.S. from The University of Texas at Austin, his M.Ed. from the University of North Texas, and his Ed.D. from the University of Georgia. He was a contributing author for the 2008 book Real-World Supervision: Adapting Theory to Practice. Dr. Mattingly has presented at numerous state, national, and international meetings. Dr. Mattingly is a past President of the Georgia Association of Curriculum and Instructional Supervision; he received the Ray E. Bruce Award and the Robert Flanders Award for his research in instructional supervision. His wife, Sally, teaches first grade in Denton ISD and his daughter attends E.P. Rayzor Elementary. Chris ShadeCoordinator of Federal & State Programs(940) 369-0676After spending four years as an elementary teacher and eight as an elementary principal, Chris Shade has spent his entire career working with campuses that receive Title I funds. Before serving part-time as the district Coordinator of Federal & State Funds, Shade worked full-time as the Director of District Improvement and Innovation for Denton ISD leading the District of Innovation committee and the district Educational Improvement Council through the rebranding of the district mission and subsequent logo redesign through crowdsourcing as well as contributing to the development of the district vision, values, and goals.
Prior to coming to Denton ISD, Shade consulted with districts and campuses across Texas in the Education Service Center system working with campuses and districts identified for school improvement under NCLB in addition to working with campus and district improvement planning, oversight and management of State Compensatory Education and Title funds, formative and summative assessment. Shade often delivers presentations in conferences across the country and state.
