Three Gallian Staff Members named Top Child Care Workers of the Year

Camp Fire First Texas has named three Gallian Child Development Center staff members as the top workers in their field across the region for the year, honoring Denton ISD’s child care services.

Denton ISD employees took three of the organization’s top five awards at its recent annual ceremony designed to honor child care and development professionals. This year’s Excellence in Child Care awards from Camp Fire First Texas honored Gallian’s Hugh Bolton as the region’s administrator of the year, Heather Salas as its teacher of the year and Beth Sieberhagen as its young professional of the year.

Nominees for the award were submitted through an online recommendation process from the community, with parents, teachers, community members and employers eligible to nominate candidates. Each nominee then submitted a work portfolio relevant to the category he or she was nominated for, with a committee of child care and development professionals then selecting winners.

Camp Fire is one of the leading youth development organizations in the nation, with the First Texas chapter serving the counties of Denton, Hood, Johnson, Parker, Tarrant and Wise since 1914.

Virginia Gallian Child Development Center achieved Four-Star Certification during their first evaluation!

There is only one other center in the Denton ISD boundaries that currently has this certification.

In Texas, childcare programs can pursue higher quality through several avenues. The Texas Rising Star is one of these options for childcare providers, and for parents looking for high-quality childcare for their children.

The Texas Rising Star program is “a voluntary, quality-based child care rating system of childcare providers participating in the Texas Workforce Commission’s subsidized child care program.”

TRS Certification is available to Licensed Centers and Licensed and Registered Child Care Home providers who meet the certification criteria. The TRS Provider certification system offers three levels of certification (Two-Star, Three-Star, and Four-Star).
