Student Programs & Enrichment

  • CTE Students

Denton ISD cut positions, including reading recovery, interventionists, and bilingual support specialists. The district also reduced world language classes, some CTE options, and reduced enrichment opportunities, resulting in larger class sizes.

Career and Technical Education (CTE) provides hands-on learning to prepare students for careers after graduation. Over 99% of Denton ISD students take at least one CTE course.

Teaching Positions Cut

  • The district’s special education needs are growing. More students are being identified with special learning needs such as dyslexia, ADHD, and autism, as well as other emotional and physical disabilities.

Denton ISD previously had 37 reading recovery teachers. Due to budget constraints, the district now has 20 reading recovery teachers, which include teachers who support our dual language learners.

If Prop A passes

  • Proposition A allows Denton ISD to maintain student programs and enrichment and avoid reducing services due to budget constraints.

If Prop A does not pass

  • CTE students

Without additional revenue, the district will have to look at reducing programs and enrichment opportunities due to staffing constraints. The district will consider fewer assistant directors for Fine Arts and coaches for athletics, and some CTE programs may also be cut due to staffing issues.
