Inclement Weather Policy
Inclement weather procedures for the 2021-2022 school year have changed. Should a determination be made that inclement weather prevents our students and staff from safely traveling to their campuses, the district may pivot to online instruction and operations for all students and staff.
School will not automatically be canceled due to inclement weather.
The decision to physically close our school buildings for in-person learners and staff due to inclement weather is made prior to 6:30 a.m. when possible.
Closing of school buildings will be reported on the Denton ISD website, Twitter account, and Facebook page; major local television and radio stations will also be contacted. Denton ISD uses an automated call-out system for weather alerts via the district’s main telephone line at 940-369-0000. Please be sure to have your current contact information on file with the school your child attends. If you have multiple children, make sure your contact information is current at all necessary Denton ISD campuses.
It is important to remember that Denton ISD and media outlets only inform viewers and listeners of school districts that either have a delayed opening time or school cancellation. If no information is given from the district or media outlets, our school buildings will be open to students and staff at their regularly scheduled times.
