Dr. Lacey Rainey, Assistant Superintendent

Dr. Lacey Rainey serves as Denton Independent School District's Assistant Superintendent of School Leadership & Academic Programs. In this position, Dr. Rainey oversees the academic programs and operations at all 43 of Denton ISD's campuses.
From 2021-2023, Dr. Rainey was the Area Superintendent of the Denton High School Zone, supervising campuses in the heart of Denton.
Prior to her role as Area Superintendent, Dr. Rainey was the principal of Pecan Creek Elementary for five years, successfully leading a diverse neighborhood school in southeast Denton that houses one of the district’s two-way dual language programs.
Dr. Rainey brings more than 20 years of experience as an educator to her position as Assistant Superintendent of School Leadership and Academic Programs. She has a reputation among her colleagues for being a thoughtful collaborative leader who has implemented proven, researched instructional practices that improve academic performance.
Dr. Rainey has previously taught for Lufkin ISD, Allen ISD and currently serves as an adjunct professor at both the University of North Texas and Dallas Baptist University.
Dr. Rainey earned her bachelor’s degree from The University of Texas at Austin with a concentration in Spanish and master’s degree from Texas A&M University - Commerce. She completed her doctoral studies at Dallas Baptist University in 2016.
