Jason Rainey, Interim Assistant Superintendent


  • Jason Rainey is Denton ISD’s Interim Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources, serving in the role since January 2024 after previously serving as the district’s executive director in the same department.

    Mr. Rainey served as Denton ISD’s Executive Director of Human Resources from 2016-2023. He has more than 14 years of experience in educational administration, including 20 years of experience in public education.

    Mr. Rainey joined Denton ISD in 2009 as the assistant principal of Crownover Middle School, where was named the Region 11 Education Service Center Assistant Principal of the Year in 2011. He moved to McKinney High School in 2012 as a House Principal. His duties included supervising the math department, serving as campus testing coordinator and Response to Intervention Chair.

    In 2013, Mr. Rainey returned to Denton ISD, serving as the principal of Crownover Middle School for three years until joining the Human Resources Department in 2016.

    Mr. Rainey began his career as a teacher and coach at Ford Middle School in the Allen ISD. In 2004, he moved to the Lowery Freshman Center where he served as a teacher and head junior varsity football coach for four years. During that time, he was selected as one of nine colleagues as part of the Allen ISD Leadership Academy for Aspiring Administrators, ultimately earning a scholarship to pay for his advanced degree.

    Mr. Rainey earned his bachelor’s degree from Texas Tech University and has earned his master’s degree in educational administration from Lamar University. His wife, Lacey Rainey, is also an administrator with Denton ISD, and they are raising two students in the district.
