Dr. Jeremy Thompson, Deputy Superintendent


  • Dr. Jeremy Thompson serves as the Deputy Superintendent of Denton ISD, overseeing the district’s financial operations and business office.

    Most recently the Superintendent of Schools in nearby Ponder ISD, Dr. Thompson has nearly two decades of experience as a Superintendent leading public school districts. Prior to his stint in Ponder ISD, Dr. Thompson was the Superintendent of Schools in Era ISD for 15 years.

    Dr. Thompson began his career in education as a teacher and coach at Callisburg High School in 1995. He joined Era ISD in 1998 and remained with the district for the next 22 years in numerous capacities.

    From 1998-2000, Dr. Thompson taught high school math and computer science while also coaching. He then served as a principal for five years before becoming the Superintendent of Era ISD in 2005.

    Under his leadership in Ponder and Era ISD, Dr. Thompson helped the district receive all three transparency stars from the Texas Comptroller for providing a high level of transparency to stakeholders.

    Dr. Thompson earned his bachelor’s in mathematics from Lubbock Christian University. He later graduated with his master’s in mathematics from the University of North Texas before earning his doctorate in educational leadership from Lamar University.

    In 2018, Dr. Thompson joined the University of Texas at Arlington as an adjunct professor in the College of Education’s superintendent certification program. He is a member of the Texas Association of School Administrators and the Texas Association of Community School Executive Committee.

    Dr. Thompson is married to his wife, Amie, who is also an educator. The couple have four children – all of whom are graduates of or are currently attending Lubbock Christian University.
