We are excited to announce that starting this school year (2024-2025), we will offer bus transportation for our 4-year-old Pre-K students. This initiative aims to provide safe and reliable transportation for our youngest learners and ensure their access to our educational programs.
Bus Transportation Guidelines for 4-Year-Old Students:
1. Eligibility:*Students must be four years old.*Must be registered for service.*Students must reside within the designated zone of the elementary school, except Ann Windle and Gonzalez School for Young Children. (For example, if a child's home school is Sandbrock Elementary, we will not transport them to Martinez Elementary.)*Students must live at least 2 miles away from the school.2. Pick-up and Drop-Off:*Parents or guardians must be present at the bus stop during pick-up and drop-off times.*Parents must maintain a distance of 15 feet from the bus doors.*The designated bus stops will be communicated to parents before the start of the service. (It may take up to a week to get services.)3. Safety Procedures:*All Pre-K students must be seated and wear either a seat belt or a 3-part harness during the entire bus ride.*A bus monitor may or may not be present on the bus to assist in transportation. If a bus monitor is NOT present, it will be the responsibility of the older sibling to help secure the Pre-K sibling in the seat.*If siblings are on the bus, the Pre-K student must sit with them.*Students must follow the bus driver's instructions at all times.4. Behavior Expectations:*Students are expected to exhibit good behavior and follow bus rules to ensure the safety of all passengers.*Repeated misconduct may result in suspension of bus transportation privileges.Should you have any questions or need further information, please do not hesitate to contact our transportation department at 940-369-0344 or routing@dentonisd.org or Cecilia Holt at 940-369-0448.
